Dr. Noreen Zafar Founder & President, Girls and Women Health Initiative (GWHI) MBBS, FCPS, MRCOG (UK), FRCOG (UK)
Dr. Noreen Zafar is a pioneering force in Pakistan’s obstetrics and gynecology landscape. With over three decades of clinical excellence, she was the first Pakistani physician to receive the prestigious John M. Eisenberg Award (2009) from the National Quality Forum and The Joint Commission (USA), recognizing her global contribution to patient safety and quality of care. A distinguished Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (London), Dr. Zafar’s career is defined by a refusal to accept the status quo. Witnessing the preventable suffering of women in marginalized communities—from the tragedy of young mothers dying of cervical cancer to the isolation of fistula patients—she founded GWHI to bridge the gap between elite medical care and the underserved poor.
GWHI began with a simple but radical belief: that a woman’s health determines the health of her nation. What started as a clinical mission to help women “who could not reach us” has evolved into a national movement.
Our impact is reflected in the numbers and each statistic represents lives changed and futures improved. Our work goes beyond awareness; we deliver tangible health outcomes.
